for my striped haunches

rainy Mother's Day
(cantaloupe aches for planting)
my babies: plants, pets

crabapple blossoms
create a cute kitty cave
on a cool May morn

a new moon rising
bringing blossoms to springtime
blooms: the cat's meow

queen of Saturday 
loves to watch us do yard work 
from her bed blue throne

spring break adventures:
walking two dogs, badminton.
so exciting, right?

the cat disagrees.
scared halfway up a light pole,
she scratched her way down.

it’s not all hardship.
rarely will this boy smile.
yet, for weightlifting.

after last night’s work
stealing him from our soft bed
the kitty soothes him

is she a queen cat
or the princess and the pea?
at least she's safe. warm.

no real snow day
just a cat and a puzzle 
dreaming of travel

cats and flowers rise
as soon as the sun is bright
to welcome rare rain

please, rain, end this drought 
this plague of world crises
waiting at the door
