Coronatine, Day Fifteen

views from nearby walks

are all we have at this time

to get us through this

Coronatine, Day Twelve

let me rephrase this:

my students are scared to death

their families could die

they don’t need English

they don’t need online teaching

they need love from us

i wish they could see

the beauty of this sunset

and find hope in it

but like these cracked streets

they’ve lived nothing but cracked lives

(and now they’re trapped here)

here! land of the free!

opportunities waiting

for someone (not them)

yes, i’m a cynic

cause i know without faces

relationships die

Coronatine sucks

the life from all we’ve worked for

and how will it end?

Coronatine, Day Eleven (The Missing Piece)

i’m an introvert

but my teenagers are not

(glad they’re not alone)

Coronatine, Day Ten

here are my children

throwing frisbees in the park

(they’ve never done this)

quarantine, day nine:

presidential rampages,

orders to stay home

just look at my son:

showing pup what he can do

with our family

card and board games win

(break news cycle doom and gloom)

We WILL get through this.

Coronatine, Day Nine

trying to find peace

in simple, everyday walks

with green below snow

Coronatine, Day Eight (Make Soup)

no snowy sunrise

or Minnesota rice stew

can save our planet

but even at night

the world sparkles just so

and we can wish well

Coronatine, Day Seven (Let’s Build a Snowman)

even if it’s small

even if it’s too chunky

it helped us get through

even if it’s spring

even if Corona wins

it helped us smile

let’s build a snowman

even if the snow is soft

we can make this work

Coronatine, Day Six

our lives lived in lines

hoping that this snow will pass

and leave us with spring

Coronatine, Day Five

making some progress

(most kids cooperating)

even some planting

Coronatine, Day Four (At Least There’s a Dog)

we survived day four

(survival: tears, backtalk, cards)

now it’s day by day
