despite a cold snap
brought by April treachery 
spring blooms bring beauty

sometimes a small bloom
from a broken, displaced plant
is all a day needs

even its roots wait
patiently in their soil
basking in the sun

ski season is done.
we’ll have to make do with yards
full of happiness.

our ski season ends
with bluebird jumps and peak views
(and a pinch of angst)

sometimes the night's lights
are only in the sunset
(not the soccer game)

a Sunday ski day
is not equal to church time
(it's so much better)

blue sky Saturday
with winter branches hugging 
the first day of spring

the sun god returns
leaving only soft snow drifts
to battle today

only two days late
the snow has taken over
(Lord, save us from drought)

no real snow day
just a cat and a puzzle 
dreaming of travel
