swinging out summer
 with colors, light, friendship:
 big and small beauties
 

three hours weeding
 added to yesterday’s two:
 sore forearms, clean rocks
 
 at least Adichie
 held me with her perfect words
 so the weeds wouldn’t
 
 
 
 
 

summer comes to end
 block party, fire pit, fun
 if it could just last
 

the girls are all home
 settled in reading corners
 and playing with pics
 

clingy kitty love
 misses the girls so badly
 that she’ll sit with me
 

summer classwork perks:
 reclining furniture, cats:
 love and comfort rule
 

the northwest corner
 of our country and my fridge
 have now made my map
 

all drives must end
 with western divinity
 on our blue-sky Earth
 

we missed Crater Lake
 but found the Lake in the Woods
 (no tourists here)
 

my garden has bloomed
 under my family’s care
 while we met Salt Lake
