our hot springs heaven
 with memories old and new
 (heat never gets old)

postcard of our state
 visit worth waiting years for
 nothing quite like it

fog leads through mountains
 to tiny house getaway
 for his fortieth

a day full of fights
 and anger at pissing cats
 ends with this hammock:

(let our souls have rest
 forgive our pets’ daily sins
 and let the day end)

swinging out summer
 with colors, light, friendship:
 big and small beauties

three hours weeding
 added to yesterday’s two:
 sore forearms, clean rocks

 at least Adichie
held me with her perfect words
 so the weeds wouldn’t

summer comes to end
 block party, fire pit, fun
 if it could just last

the girls are all home
 settled in reading corners
 and playing with pics

clingy kitty love
 misses the girls so badly
 that she’ll sit with me

summer classwork perks:
 reclining furniture, cats:
 love and comfort rule
