Pint-Sized Hero

just a spot of tea
for my pint-sized pup hero
(always makes my day)

Teacher Tired

broken copier,
mushroom chicharrón tacos,
and this sad puppy

it's only Wednesday
of my first week back at school
and exhaustion wins

like this worn-out dog
i have nearly given up…
yet, i’m a Taurus.

and so i garden
though it, too, is a failure
stolen by flowers

this year’s loss, in pics:
weeds and grass and tearing out 
for one little heart

carrying kayaks
down for a pup-and-paddle
oh the lake, the lake

a day on the lake
clear, glistening perfection
formed by hills, glaciers

with a loving pup
and our nearly-grown daughters
the day is a gift

my pup, lake, camp, board:
seemingly perfect weekend
(calm before the storm)

the weather plagues me
sending wind when there was none
and stealing these views

if i could lift wings,
glide pelican-like, headfirst,
it wouldn’t matter

alas, i must walk
through all the humanoid storms
that we’ve created

sunset’s golden light
shines brighter in the mountains 
with my perfect pup

the mountains call us
with their peak views, quaking aspens
(listen for the call)

rainy Mother's Day
(cantaloupe aches for planting)
my babies: plants, pets

this side of the glass
has me trapped like a sad pup
just begging entry
